Cutting-edge microscopy meets materials innovation. The 5th International Workshop of In Situ Electron Microscopy, held in Porto from May 13–15, 2025, brought together top researchers and industry leaders to explore real-time observation techniques at the atomic scale.

Gloria Conte represented the MAGNIFIC project with a poster titled “Nanocrystalline Silicon for Optomechanical Applications.” She presented recent MAGNIFIC results on the structural analysis of nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) using advanced electron microscopy techniques. These findings support the development of innovative materials for NOEMS-based ICT and SATCOM applications.

The event provided an ideal platform to reinforce MAGNIFIC’s role in cutting-edge materials research and to connect with the international electron microscopy community.
