INL is an intergovernmental research organization aiming at performing cutting-edge research and development in nanotechnology and to act as an innovation integrator in multiple application domains, providing high-tech research to address major challenges of nanotechnologies in six areas: Clean Energy, Sustainable Environment, Smart Digital Nanosystems, Food, Personalised Health Tech and Advanced Materials & Computing. INL headquarters comprise advanced special installations and several laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, including a class 100 Central Micro and Nanofabrication Cleanroom of circa 700 m2.

Within the MAGNIFIC Project, INL´s  Nanophononics Research Group, led by Prof Sotomayor Torres will contribute with its expertise in experimental physics, nanoscale thermal transport, establishment of opto-mechanics at ambient conditions, and leading inelastic light applied to phononic, photonic and elastic properties of Si-based device-like structures. The group develops new experimental methods to reach the nm-scale characterization and imaging. In the context of MAGNIFIC, the group of Prof. Sotomayor Torres is a reference laboratory in room temperature optomechanics as well as in nanoscale thermal transport in semiconductors.
